Overview

New to squash or starting again?

Spencer Club are very proud of our range of players across the club which means that everybody gets to enjoy their squash, regardless of their standard.  A number of our members discovered squash at Spencer Club or re-discovered their passion for the game when they walked through our doors.  Many people are keen to start playing squash either to improve their fitness, participate in a highly competitive individual sport or to meet other like-minded people.  Whatever your reason for wanting to play squash, Spencer Club have a fantastic beginner Programme designed to help you discover your love for the game.

Beginner squash lessons

We currently provide a weekly beginner’s squash programme, which takes place from 3.00pm to 4.30pm on Saturday afternoons. The lessons are designed to introduce you to the game, help you to learn the basics and to provide you with the correct techniques in order to help you move onto the next level.

Improving your game

Once you have learnt the basics, why not get involved in our regular group coaching sessions to help move you up the ladder?  Our philosophy is to focus on all four aspects of the game to cover technical, tactical, physical and mental areas of the game.  Most of our participants have learnt to focus on areas of their game that they didn’t previously realise even existed and have significantly improved their performance as a result.  See our Adult Programme for further details!

Spencer Club internal leagues – practice makes perfect!

As you build up your confidence, you will want to start playing regular semi-competitive matches against other players in order to experience valuable playing time and to develop your game strategy.  Our Spencer Club internal leagues span across all levels and will match you up against other players of similar ability.  Each month, you will get the chance to compete against a handful of other similar players and you will be able to progress through the divisions by earning promotions as your game continues to improve.  Don’t worry though – our members enjoy a good mixture of competition and social interaction so there is plenty of fun to be had!

Informal matches

If you are unable to commit to playing squash on a regular basis, then you may prefer to either contact other members to organise the occasional ad hoc match or alternatively to attend our weekly Club-nights on a Tuesday evening from 7pm onwards at the cost of only £5. Our Club-nights are run by our committee members and offer players a combination of group coaching and match practice. For these, you must register in advance and are available to all members or anyone considering becoming a member. >> Book your next Tuesday night Club Session.

Wandsworth community squash participation programme

In addition to our beginner squash lessons, we are proud to organise regular squash participation programmes for people who live in the nearby area, for example: Earlsfield, Wandsworth, Wimbledon, Clapham, Tooting and Putney.  These provide people with the opportunity to start playing squash or to pick up from where they previously left off.
